UNIQA Group, one of the best branded Insurance Groups operating in CEE, is searching for motivated people supporting the group-wide mathematical unit for Property & Casualty insurance (i.e. the Actuarial Non-Life team) in the UNIQA Group Actuarial Department.
The primary objective of the open position is reserve modelling in different regimes as well of supporting in diverse Actuarial Function tasks. The focus is on operational work of the biggest entity within the UNIQA Group, namely UNIQA Austria, analyzing actuarial outcomes and sharing key developments with various stakeholders within the UNIQA Group to contribute to the strategy of being a copilot for management.
It involves guiding more junior team members in dealing with complex tasks, making process more efficient and contributing to Group solutions / standards helping to fulfill regulatory requirements.

Senior Non-Life Actuary (m/f/d)
with a sound knowledge in Solvency 2 / IFRS 17 / insurance mathematics (Property & Casualty) and statistical modelling.
You can expect well-established and advanced reserving processes and techniques giving many insides into the Non-Life business, which should be the base for further improvements. There are also a lot of new challenges and opportunities in the field of bringing AI into existing processes and optimizing e.g. the relatively young processes / methodologies around the IFRS 17 regime. Moreover, we are offering continues education possibilities within UNIQA Group (“lifelong learning”).
What to expect:
- IFRS 17 tasks: calculation of Best Estimates Reserves / LIC, Cashflow modelling (LIC & LRC for GMM portfolio), back-testing, etc.
- Solvency 2 actuarial tasks: parameterization of our Internal Model and calculation of Technical Provisions in Economic Balance Sheet
- Local GAAP (UGB) actuarial task: calculation of IBNR Reserves incl. back-testing
- Taking modelling decisions and giving input to strategic decisions
- Connecting to Product Development departments to get insights into product portfolio and key developments
- Participation in IFRS planning process and monitoring of actual vs. expected numbers
- Communication and interpretation of results to management and important stakeholders
- Implementing new regulatory requirements and Group Standards with feedback / direct impact to Group methodology / process / tool developments
- Supporting / Validating younger colleagues in closing processes (UGB, S2, IFRS 17)
- Know-How / Best practice transfer & training within the Group
- Leading & collaboration in AT- as well as in Group-projects
- Support in ad-hoc balance and risk topics, e.g. requests from regulators / auditors
- Further development of existing tools & templates (Excel, VBA, SAS, R, Python, databricks)
What we expect:
- Minimum of 3 years working experience preferably in reserving / Solvency 2 and/or IFRS 17 context
- University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative background
- Good knowledge of accounting regimes (local GAAP, IFRS)
- Deep understanding of Solvency 2 & Non-Life reserving techniques (deterministic & stochastic)
- Excellent know-how of MS Office, VBA programming is a plus
- Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. VBA, R, Python)
- Knowledge of data handling (SAS, SQL, databricks, etc. of advantage)
- Ability to communicate to all levels of an organization
- Team player mentality with the ability to guide colleagues
- Advanced Project Management skills
- Fluent in English, German of advantage
- Openness to innovative technologies and a willingness to use artificial intelligence responsibly in everyday work while continuously developing one's skills
